As mentioned in a post last week, I came out as Mostly Hetero on National Coming Out Day. That is to say I prefer men and am usually uninterested in my own gender. But I have had crushes on girls for as long as I can remember. My very first crush was on Liza Minelli in the movie Caberet. I was 5 years old.

Here is my list of girl crushes and why I crushed on them to begin with, if I an even remember.

Tilda Swinton: Absolutely one of the most beautiful beings on the planet. Her beauty is classic in that if one of the great painters of days gone by were to paint a picture of a royal woman, he could very possibly end up with a portrait of Tilda herself.

Annie Lennox:The first time I ever saw Annie, I was a mere 14 years old and wholly enamoured of Annie's androgynous image. Her singing voice, combined with her soft Scots accent, never fails to melt my heart.

Johnette Napolitano: Simply one of the most beautiful singers of our time. When I say that, I mean that she sings beautifully, but it could also mean that she can sing and she is beautiful. Actually, both interpretations apply.

Sandra: My bestest friend in high school. She was always so spontaneously witty and she had the soul of a poet. My day just wasn't right if I didn't see Sandra. We were really tight and, at that time, I was hoping we'd be tighter.

Sharon Stone: When I beheld her kicking Ahhhhnold in Total Recall, I fell....hard.

Michelle Rodriguez: She's a tough one, or at least she plays one on TV, flawlessly! And she's beautiful, especially when she's pissed. I think she'd probably get the month of December in a Surly Sith Chicks calendar.

Jodie Foster: She drips with sexay and beautiful. What more can I possibly say?

Katee Sackhoff: As Starbuck, she is tough as nails, with innards of moosh. I find that irresistible.

Janeane Garofalo: She's snarky, intelligent, pretty, and she'd probably take your head off if you crossed. I like that in a woman.

I'm too tired to think about anymore. Maybe there aren't anymore. I'm gonna have to do a "Crushes on Dudes" post after this, but not tonight, which is actually very early morning now. Gads.
