tinhuvielFor Barack Obama, Joe Biden, all the local Democrats (all THREE of them!), as well as Ren Hoek, Caspar the Ghost, Space Ghost, Bugs Bunny (always a poll fave!), and myself, because I couldn't think of any other Toons at that particular moment and I just wanted to see "Tinhuviel" on the ballot. HA!
So let me explain. Aunt Tudi gets to vote absentee because she's disabled. We found out the last time I took her to vote that I can vote as well, because I bring Aunt Tudi to vote. Today was the day. We had to wait about two hours to vote because the lines were so long, but you could feel the energy of determination in the room. As much as I hate it, I also love an election year, especially when so much is at stake. So why did I end up voting for so many cartoon characters, including myself, when this is a Very Serious Election?
It's like this. This is a devastatingly RED state, which means that there were many offices where you had the choice of voting for the incumbentFascist Republican, or write in your vote. I would rather lick a cheese grater than to vote for a Republican, even if he's running for the office of Yankee Stadium toilet cleaner, which is still too much of a responsibility for anyone Right-leaning. Not that I'm comfortable sitting on a public toilet, but I'd be a little more distrustful of a toilet that had been cleaned by a fucking Nazi, if it had been cleaned at all. So I wrote in my votes in the appropriate sections. That meant I had to call on some old pals like Space Ghost and Bugs. At least I can honestly say that I didn't vote for a single Republican, even by choosing not to vote because I had no choice.
It's moments like that that make me think I should run for some sort of office. At least, then, others like myself wouldn't be presented with the choice of "Stormtrooper" or "Write-In." It'd be worth a shot. So, what do you think?
