The Circle Is Cast
Jul. 30th, 2002 09:35 amSo Lady Neith popped me an e-mail a couple of days ago, asking me if I'd sing at her Lughnassadh service at the Unitarian Universalist Church this coming Sunday. She specifically requested that I sing 'The Circle Is Cast'. Well, I'm more than happy to oblige, of course, even though I'm a wee bit rusty on my singing.
I've always loved 'The Circle Is Cast'. It has to be the only Black Gospel Pagan song in existence and since I'm a little black woman trapped in a big white body, I jumped onto the task of learning it years ago. The song has such soul and, as is typical of Black Gospel, it truly brings out the spirit of worship.
Neith is batting around with the idea of my also singing 'Band of Shearers. And I'll be doing the 'Nam Day Hi Yay' chant during one part of the service.
I'm really looking forward to this.
I'm looking forward to singing again, and to going to a spiritual service, and most of all seeing Neith again. It's been too long.
Oddly, Lord Ariel was mentioned to her by a supposed 'uninvolved party' just recently. Usually when he's brought up unexpectedly and Neith and I collaborate on anything, Lord Ariel turns up. We await with baited breath.
