The American Freedom Coalition began in 1987 with a merger
of Robert Grant's fundamentalist organization Christian
Voice and the American Constitution Committee of Reverend
Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church, with the Moon
conglomerate providing the initial funding. Its first
activity, orchestrated by direct-mail expert Richard
Viguerie, was a massive fundraising effort for the
Nicaraguan contras and
Oliver North. The AFC has
set up field offices around the country and regularly
comments on US foreign and domestic policy. During the Gulf
War, the AFC organized patriotic pro-war rallies nationwide.
Local cells of the AFC have become increasingly shrill in
their campaigns against abortion, gay rights, and "weird
art." A minimal donation of $15 provides a 6-month
membership, including a subscription to the American
Freedom Journal.

Autumn Blues

I think I have a case of the Autumn Blues.
The Melancholia is just a bit overwhelming today. Perhaps it's time to drag out my Cure CD's and my VHS of 'Bram Stoker's Dracula'. ha
Never has the time change affected me so. I passed flat out last night at 8:30 and didn't even hear my clock this morning. Aunt Tudi woke me up 30 mins before I had to be at work. It freaked me out.
Lew and I are to make music after work. He got a recording engineer program where we can make MP3's. Sounds like fun! If I can just stay awake and not sink into a funk so we can play with it properly.
Journey is on the radio right now. I never appreciated Steve Perry's voice like I should have when I was a kid. Jeeeeezus, he has such a good voice! Why don't we have wonderful artists like this now? Other than Dave Matthews, I can't think of one band or solo artist that measures up to the talent found in the 70's or 80's. Perhaps it's just my age screaming in protest to the March of Time. Well, I just thought of a current artist that meets and sometimes surpasses the 70's and 80's talent surplus: VAST. Oh, what wonderful music VAST makes!
The word is out that Paul Wellstone could have been assassinated. Wow, ya think?? What's worse is that all the absentee voters who voted for him won't get their votes counted at all. Minnesota is starting to look a lot like Florida.
