tinhuviel: (Preposterous!!)
Well, I've had a big shit day. Trying to get all this down before I settle so sore, all I will want to do is lie around and snivel

I had a car accident this morning...no it wasn't just a car accident...it was a big whopping Lethal Weapon style car accident. My car flipped on its side and I'm luckily merely bruised beyond all human recognition.

Instead of spending my day at work I got to spend my day at the ER, sitting in the hallway being ignored for the most part. But that's not their fault. They're busy people. When they could pay attention to me, they were all sterling individuals ~ very sweet. And my doctor looked like Bobby McFerrin so at least I had eye candy as I gazed through the tears.

Here's what happened. I was trying to turn left into work. The oncoming traffic was stopped and one of the drivers motioned to me that it was safe. As I eeked through, I looked to see if anything in the far right lane was coming and saw nothing, so I proceeded. I didn't get very far.

A car slammed into me at about 45 MPH and flipped my car on its side. Needless to say my car is totalled and I'm pretty banged up. The police officer had to cite me on the technicality that I'd pulled out in front of someone, but he went extremely easy on me because it was very foggy this morning and the car was white. He totally understood how it could have happened.

I called Llew while I was still dangling from my seat belt. Very calm, very collected....
I asked that he come pick up Aunt Tudi and take her to the hospital as I knew that was where I was headed. I called Aunt Tudi from the ambulance about 30 minutes later, so she could get ready for Llew to pick her up, but not be upset and alone for too very long.

Llew was so incredibly sweet all day long. He stuck right by Aunt Tudi and me and he took us to get my stuff out of the Robula. He took us by Nationwide so I could get Mary Jo to sign my papers. He took me by the drug store for my medicine. He is a wonderful wonderful man, and cute to boot. I could not be any more fortunate than I am to have him in my life.

And Aunt Tudi was there with me all through the day. I don't know if I could have coped with all this as well as I have had it not been for her.

I'm blessed to have such loving people in my life.

The doc told me to basically lick my wounds for the next few days and gave me an excuse for work. He also gave me some Lortab for pain, so I'm thinking he's thinking I won't be feeling very well.

I'm already bruised very badly, especially across my chest and my right breast, where the seat belt did its job. I really think I would have been a lot worse off had I not been wearing the seat belt. Also, even though the car is a total waste now, I sincerely believe that it held up remarkably well under such a godawful impact. Many other cars would have crumpled and killed its occupants. So I think my next car will also be a Saturn. If I get enough insurance money for the Robula, I think an Ion will do quite nicely. We'll see.

This is my first car accident. I sincerely hope it will be my last. At least I can put 'stunt driving' experience on my resume now. Lethal Weapon, here I come.
