The Long Dark Journey
Sep. 14th, 2004 06:45 pmHonestly, I can't bring myself to go into detail about the trip to San Diego. The Crazy Aunt was there and monopolised just about everything. The Grandmother Unit, Mother Unit, and Crazy Aunt engaged in the unseemly activity of insulting and abusing Aunt Tudi in a very passive/aggressive manner. The Mother Unit gave me nothing for my birthday, not even a card, uttering her yearly tease: "Your birthday present isn't ready yet so I'll have to mail it to you." Like I told Todd, she's been promising me this mystery gift for so many years, I'm beginning to think it's a chunk of coal she's stored in wait of it turning into a diamond. There was a heatwave going on at the time and the Grandmother Unit has no A/C. We cooked in our own juices the entire time.
There were some good points:
And that was about it. There's lots more, but I really don't have the heart to express it here or anywhere. I'd rather just forget it all; however, when my pics are developed, I may post some of them just for the hell of it (and I do mean Hell).
Needless to say, Aunt Tudi and I are ecstatic to be home.
There's only one more trip to make...to see the Grandfather Unit in October. The scheduled trip to Florida is 22 October. It's going to be a whirlwind trip with our driving down on the 22nd, visiting with Grandfather Unit, the Wasp, and the Crazy Aunt on the 23rd, and returning home on the 24th. I've already reserved the hotel room for Aunt Tudi, Llew, and myself. The Crazy Aunt thinks we'll be staying with her....she is woefully mistaken. After this last visit, I will begin severing ties with the family once more.
It's not bloody worth it.
There were some good points:
- The wild animal park was very interesting
- Imperial Beach was inspiring, even though Mmm and Sss weren't able to make it
- We got to see Without a Paddle, which was a hoot and a half
- The flights there and back were fantastic (I adore flying)
- SLURPEES
