Who needs a damned technician who will charge you $65 or maybe more to do a half-assed cleaning job on your heater when you can do it yourself?

Last year, when we had to get the tech out to clean the heater, I watched everything he did very carefully and committed it to memory. This morning, after Aunt Tudi and I hibernated under layers of blankets and animals until 11 AM, I took the heater apart and blew it out, Aunt Tudi washed the casing and grill, and we both vacuumed like crazy-ass maids from hell. Within an hour I had the heater back together and the pilot light back on. It now looks better than it has in years, looking almost like it did when Llew bought it new.

So, screw you Freeman Gas! Sisters are doin' for themselves! ::does a jig and slaps her own ass in triumph::

I lifted this from [livejournal.com profile] shadesong. I'm not sure about the "stifling" part 'cos Cadmus usually does as he pleases and dictates what I write about him. Does this make me schizophrenic? Maybe.

the writer's mary sue test results

Cadmus Pariah is nothing like you. He may be popular, or he may not, but no matter what he's impossible to ignore; he stands out... just the way you always wanted to. He may have sometimes thought that he was special, or destined for greater things, but probably dismissed the idea as a fantasy. He's had more than his fair share of hard knocks, and probably spends more time than he ought moaning about it. And you've been sparing with the free handouts: whatever he gains, he's worked for.

You may have let yourself get a little too close to Cadmus Pariah. Maybe he's you as you wish you were, or maybe you're just afraid no one will like him and are trying to give him a free ride. Have some confidence in your writing! Cadmus Pariah is a good character. Give him room to be himself before you stifle him.

It occurred to me that this is the first year since 1997 that I don't have to concern myself with the Grammy Awards or with how much work certain "wins" will incur that the idiots will inevitably dump on po little ole me.

Yet another reason to be thankful for being freed from The Pit.

Of course, I won't be watching the Grammy show. No one on there interests me except perhaps for Paul McCartney, but even he isn't worth it. After all, it's LOST night. I'd rather see the Others poke the castaways with sharp pointy sticks than watch the music industry patting itself on the back for a job badly done. Blaaaargh.
