Cadmus' Sexuality
Feb. 14th, 2011 08:36 pmI've pretty much committed to a collection of short stories chronicling Cadmus' search for companionship as he wanders the world drinking the blood of mortals and Vampires. Some companions will already be Vampires, but others will be mortals with whom Cadmus wishes to play for a period of time. He wants to see the world of the night through their eyes so that he may better understand his new role as a full-fledged Vampire and not a hybrid, as was his only frame of reference.
One thing I want to make perfectly clear here, and it might turn some people off: Cadmus will have both female and male companions and many will be his lovers since Cadmus transformed into an incubus when he was reborn into Vampirism. It is understandable to me that this be the case. Vampires don't necessarily see sexuality as humans do. It is all about the blood for them and blood has no gender. The method by which the blood is attained can be drastically different depending on the sexuality of the victim, but it is the blood that is important here.
Cadmus' first consensual sexual encounter was with a youth his age. His name was Stephane and he offered to hunt with Cadmus; instead, Cadmus drank his Blood, castrated him, and decapitated him. He was no more than a means to an end for Cadmus at that time, being devoid of emotion as he was. Cadmus is still quite capable of such savagery, but he craves more than a slow and excruciating kill. He wants something more than a simple meal. For Cadmus, it doesn't matter what the gender may end up being, as long as the companion is amenable to his needs.
Does that make Cadmus bisexual? I don't think so. I'd like to think he's more pansexual because what he is looking for isn't just relegated to the Vampire world, but to the sentient world as a whole. He is also open to having relations with individuals of any sexual orientation for he is capable of emulating any orientation himself, being sexually free himself.
So...the first story is about Isobel. The next story could very well be about a young Vampire by the name of Artus. Just a thought. But I don't want to get too ahead of myself.
