Boogie Shoes
Jan. 16th, 2003 11:11 pmWhat a groovy night!
There was finally something on TV worth watching (or listening to) other than my normal dose of Sci-Fi. ABC featured 'THE DISCO BALL' tonight, bringing back artists like Gloria Gaynor, KC & the Sunshine Band, and the Trammps to do their classic tunes.
I haven't shaken my booty this much in a long long time.
Favourite bit was Martha Wash and Whoopi Goldberg doing 'It's Raining Men'. Of course, I had to boogie on down to KC, too. And Gloria Gaynor...what more need I say? GLORIA GAYNOR!!
I was too young to get to go to the Discos, but I was old enough to catch the vibe of that era and enjoy the music. I'm now just totally awash in Deep Nostalgia.
Tomorrow I think I'll go hunting for a Meco Menardo collection and a Greatest Hits album by Heatwave (only the best damned Funk line-up, other than Parliament Funkadelic, ever to grace vinyl!). I'm in dire need of some Star Wars Disco and 'Grooveline'.
This jive turkey is boogie-ing to bed now.
