Where is "Check please" from? Dare I hope that you get the wonderful "Goodness Gracious Me"? I would have thought Anglo-Indian humour was far too esoteric for US audiences, even on PBS.

I think it was in some old 1940s movie and I've heard it said in humourous framework before. Ne'er heard of 'Goodness Gracious Me'.
