iPod Heaven
Mar. 4th, 2006 07:23 pmWhy o why did I wait so long to get an iPod? I dashed to Ingles to pick up some cat food and cheese sticks and took the little critter with me to see how it would do in the car. I hooked it up to the FM tuner and VOILA! Music! An abundance of music! I was flabbergasted, taken aback, and bumfuzzled all at once! So, when I got to Ingles, I put the iPod in my pocket and tried out the ear buds. Duuuuuude........just...DUUUUUUUDE! People in the grocery store were looking at me as I be-bopped to Faithless, then Queen, then Talitha MacKenzie, etcetera etcetera. I can't imagine my world without an MP3 player now. I'm so easily converted, yes, it's true. But...dude. I'm amazed. And happy. I can carry all my music and all of Aunt Tudi's music everywhere we go. And our pictures too. We can have a portable photo album.
My only complaint with the iPod is my own aging fault. I've lost it in the house 3 times today. It's easy to misplace, being so small. Apple needs to make a Clapper version of the iPod, so old geezers like myself can just clap our hands and the iPod will beep or toot or something so we can follow the sound and locate our beloved little MP3 player. Since I'm obviously a drooling vegetable in the making, I imagine that I'd be tottering around the house clapping more often than not.
**EDIT**
Oh, and I've named my iPod, just like
blueskywonder did with hers. I dubbed him iGore, to honour Mel Brooks, Marty Feldman, and Apple (bless!). So, iGore, meet the world! World, meet iGore! All future iPod posts will sport my EYEGORE icon.

Date: 2006-03-05 01:33 am (UTC)A few years back I thought up the notion they should create an artificial Christmas tree that has built in lights, so you don't have to do that --- and now, voila! they have them. (They are boring, still, but I'm sure they'll get more colorful/elaborate in time...)
Finding things is an issue --- I don't think it's about age, 'cause the kids lose things as fluently as I do, but it's an issue.

Date: 2006-03-05 03:31 am (UTC)I introduced some friends of mine at work to The Book of Secrets last year (or maybe the year before, its so hard to keep track these days) and, while they all agreed that she "sings pretty" they weren't nearly as impressed as I was...until I forced them all to listen to it again, alone, in private. Now, they are full on converts.
I am secretly planning a belly dance routine to Marco Polo...um...you know, when I become a real belly dancer.

Date: 2006-03-07 03:00 am (UTC)Well, now that you've taken my suggestion and named yours, and I've read everyone else's names, I've decided on Orpheus for mine. And when I upgrade, it will still be Orpheus. (I toyed with Cygnus, but decided to go straight to the root. And to spell it the conventional way.)
