tinhuvielI just got off the phone with BA.
Our conversation was uncannily comfortable but, as I think back to our past phone encounters, they all have been laid back. Why do I get all bunched up in knots when real-life contact is imminent? Must be that pesky psychotic trait again...
Anyway, we discussed the new music and potential gigs. Talked about the madness of this war. A mention of Macs became a short segue into the abundance of Mack Daddies. He said that he thought Macs were quite prevalent in the US and I told him that he was thinking of Mack Daddies, as they seemed to be everywhere.
He asked about the wreck and how I was, then told me about a wreck he had which was of Ripley's Believe It or not proportions, where he ended up in a tree with scratched knuckles. Charmed the man is!
I expressed my disappointment that he's not coming to the South and he thought he was since he's going to Texas. "No, Texas is the Southwest and it's like 1000 miles away," said I, to which he responded "Well, excuse me with your bloody large country!" and laughed. I explained that Texas was like a different country and he made the observation that Texas was a lot like many of the Arab nations: dry and dusty, with a building of worship on every street corner, and daily executions. He has a point!
We talked about Stic Basin and he played some of the samples for me. Very groovy, trancey danceable stuff! The accompanying samples for the concert have a deep ominous CADMUS feel to it. He also played some kazoo, which is very unCadmus but, since I dig that instrument, it was still damned groovy.
He paid me a compliment...well, he paid me THE COMPLIMENT, actually. He told me that I had a way with words. The Bald One telling me that....it's inconceivable!
Wow.
So yeah, it was a dandy chat, lasting about 30 minutes and we promised to do that more often and, as he said, it didn't have to be about business. "You don't have to have a reason or written permission to ring, y'know. Just ring me up, right?"
