Operation Iraqi Freedom

tinhuvielWhat a joke. If people want to see glaring examples of the freedom America imposes on other countries, they need to turn their eyes to some of the nations in South America. Famine, Fear, Slavery, Poverty, and the list goes on.
That's the Pax Americana.
If America was ever so concerned about the subjugation of the Iraqis (or of any Arab for that matter), then why hasn't it been proactive about the ongoing abuse and mutilation of the Arab women? Oh nooooo, that's part of their society. Well, so is tribal warfare, but that is one of the main bones of contention in this lobby to free Iraq. Saddam doesn't like the Kurds, so he uses them for target practice. It's been going on for centuries with different leaders and different tribes, just like genital mutilation. Why is it all of a sudden such an issue now? And, if it is an issue, why isn't the treatment of women by the Arab world as a whole just as much of an issue? Fucking hypocritical double-standard....
Another double-standard: why is America focusing on Iraq when Israel is rolling over American citizens with bulldozers? Ohhh, I get it... This was one of those pesky peaceniks who didn't like the fact that the Israeli government murders innocent Palestinian families on a daily basis for no other reason but for the fact they are Arab. My mother and her family are all Jewish and I have always strongly identified with my heritage, but I swear I'm ashamed to be affiliated with Israel in any way now. It's bad enough that I live in a country that obviously condones their actions while pummelling a nation that truly doesn't have the resources to defend itself.
This war between Arab and Jew goes much further back than we can possibly imagine, though, and more bloodshed isn't going to "fix" it. If everyone weren't worshipping what essentially started out as a volcano war god, perhaps our media wouldn't be bombarding us with updates on the recent human atrocity.
But the majority of the people at war right now do, thus manifesting the nature of their deity on the physical plane. Women will continue to be enslaved and mutilated, the poor will continue to die, the displaced Palestinians will continue to be terrorised by the Israelis, the Kurds will continue to be pariahs laid waste by murder and torture, and too many Americans will cheer it all on, claiming that this is Freedom in Action.
If this is any indication of how far we as a species have come, we need to be wiped from this planet and chalked up by the Mighties as an extremely bad idea.

But a bit more seriously, it's a better indication of how far we have yet to go. In our cultures, we're largely still children. Happy and loving, fearful and cruel. We just don't want to grow up, for fear of what we might leave behind...not realizing these horrors are among them.
We aren't a "nation", just people. A nation isn't being pummelled, people are.
...and for once, I'm beginning to hear many of the Zoroastrians among us speak, and speak loudly: "no war, this war is a sin".
The choice between fear and love isn't someone else's to make. It starts as a personal one.
