So I emailed my so-called superior saying that I could come in and work a couple of hours in the afternoon on Friday but, since it would still be a vacation day, the time I worked would be considered overtime.

She has not yet responded to my overture of peace.

I'm planning on attending a protest in Greenville on Wednesday. Here's hoping I don't get pummelled by the authorities or hauled off to jail for speaking out against the Shrub. If things turn violent on the part of the peaceniks though, I'm out of there. That's no good to be protesting war by exhibiting violence.

One thing I do know about such acts is that, oftentimes, it's not the fault of the protesters; rather it's plants in their ranks trying to make them look bad for the media circus. I saw this firsthand at a public Samhain circle. Xtian plants were standing on the fringes rolling beer bottles into the circle to try to get the Pagans and Wiccans in trouble with the police since it was to be an alcohol-free event.

Let's make the freedom-loving, Earth-loving, peace-loving people look as bad as possible, shall we?

You should be okay :) My best friend (baubo_s_laugh) and her husband regularly attend the Wednesday protest in Greenville (if you are talking about the one that takes place at the Federal Building), and the issue of violence has never even been an issue with them. Last week (on the day that war was declared) some of them did participate in acts of civil disobedience, but they were well planned, cleared with the police, non-violent, etc. My ex?girlfriend (katchoo) has been known to show up there a few times as well. Anyway, here's an article about their weekly protest with a picture of my best friend's hubby and a quote from her ;) You should say hey to them for me, you'd prolly get along great.

Heeeey, thanks! If I get to go, I'll definitely say 'hi' for you. If I'm not thrown in the pokey, I'm supposed to go over to Mel's and Cecily's to return a long-overdue movie. I'll say 'hi' to them as well.
