Here at Work
Mar. 27th, 2003 09:04 amHoping that my 'commitment symbol' will arrive in the mail today or no later than tomorrow. That would be most groovy.
There is a rally of support for "our troops" this coming Sunday afternoon that is organised by local churches. I'm sorry, but I was under the mistaken impression that Jesus, the one these tackhead allegedly follow and attempt to emulate, was a peace-loving soul. Ooops, my bad. How could I forget the centuries of bloodshed and violence perpetrated in his name? It reminds me of something I wrote 10 or so years ago:
But I can't help but think that, if Christ came to Earth now, a pauper, a hippie, a heretic man, the faithful who worship him would crown him with thorns again, call him a sinner and drive nails in hands.
If I was going to be in town, I'd go to their pro-war rally in a tattered robe, carrying a sign saying something like "Jesus was a man of peace." Of course, what I'd really like to do is go over there with a megaphone and shout "You dumb fuckers!" It'd be a sure way to die, if I wanted end it all now.
Work is promising to be another slow day, which is fine with me. Even though I crashed early, I didn't sleep well at all. My upper back is about to kill me for some reason. Aunt Tudi suggested it may be some latent injury from the car accident. Could be, since I didn't start hurting until after the wreck.
Gloria is coming over tonight for movies and pizza. If my back is still hurting me, it's not going to be a comfortable evening at all, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it regardless. She's a cool lady and shares mine and Aunt Tudi's love for animals. Speaking of animals, Lori, who works with Gloria down at the vet's office, is tempting me with a beagle pup. I swear, the little one looked just like Henry in the face when he was a wee pup. I don't really see how we can afford another dog now, especially with my quitting Telequest.
Llew and I have a great Saturday planned. We're heading out early for Boone to see the sites and get us a room, then it's off to the Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds concert! Weelah! Afterwards, if I get the aforementioned symbol in time, we're going to have an improvisational ceremony that I'm quite certain will bring the two of us even closer together.
It's still cloudy here and I wish it would stay that way. It needs to remain as cool as possible until I can get Mr. Benson out to work on the A/C tomorrow. Llew is coming over to help with getting the bedroom unit out of the window. Bless him.
I tried to call Barry to see how he was. Finn answered with sleep still in his voice. Ooops! I swear he sounds just like his dad. It's spooky. So, he said BA had stepped out for about an hour and should be back later. I may try to call back if I get a window of opportunity.

The Jesus worshipped in many Christian churches doesn't bear much resemblance to the lover, social activist and peacenik that I follow.
