tinhuviel: (Cadmus Castigation)

A Writer's Block LJ supplied for us a few days ago had to do with your favourite quote. I participated in that one, but I got to thinking about a favourite quote from some of my own writing. I believe that every writer should have a particular fondness for their work and their characters. Now, I have a love/fear relationship with Cadmus Pariah, but he did say something in The Chalice that happens to be my favourite quote out of everything I've ever written. I remember typing it up for the first time, in a fever of writing desperation. It was like I was channeling Cadmus, which is most often the case when I write him. That said, I wonder if this quote is something I thought up or something I wrote down from Cadmus telling it to me. It's weird when your creations take on a life of their own.

Anyway, here's my favourite quote from my own collection of writing:
“I have endured torments you cannot yet imagine. I have climbed mountains to attain greatness in body and spirit. I have dug to the depths of the Earth to learn the secrets of Creation. I have flourished on the Blood of my people and the blood of legends. I have slept in the arms of the infernal and walked a path of hopelessness. I dwell in Nothing and Nothing dwells within me. My god is castigation and I am the hand of god.”

Anyway, if you're a writer, I want to know what your favourite quote you've ever written may be be. You can tell it to me in the attached poll or in comments. The poll only allows for 255 characters, spaces included, so do feel free to comment instead if your passages is larger than that. I want the whole megillah, not just a snippet due to size constrictions. Also, it'd be great if you'd include this embryonic meme in your own blog. I want to see what other writers think of their work, so don't be ashamed or self-conscious! Write!

From one of my older stories,
"You know you bring out the best in me..."
"Was that BEST or BEAST?"
"Which would you prefer?"

And from the current story.
"It's not like there's an official Vampire Wiki we can go look up stuff online!" (Devon grousing when getting grilled by Sara for Vampire 101)
And from the same story, there's an explanation on how vampires can get tattoos that I'm kinda proud of.

Speaking of, Tin, I need to send you the latest updates. You have some time to read?

Heee! Okies.

I had trouble deciding.

My other choice was this:

"I don't dole out my words like candy - you gave a piece so you get a piece. And I don't send real subtle messages in what I say. It’s too hard. Implication and subtlety require too much thought, and there's always the chance that someone might not pick up on it. Then it's wasted thought and effort. My life is flying by, much to my chagrin, and I can't afford to play games. I just don't have that kind of time any more."

hehhhe...it's fun to try to remember what chapter these are in...another perennial favorite (for my editor this time) that I also think is hilarious is

"If I can't drink it, kill it, or fuck it, then I don't care about it."

Hee!
Reminds me of the "She wasn't sure if that look meant he wanted to fuck her or eat her. Or both"

::goes back to reading H's incredibly intriguing story::

By the way, mine was just what struck me most last night from my recent stuff. Except for a very long passage that would also take a lot of explanation.
