It seems like we have this in common too!

I'm a sucker for lyrics ~ all kinds ~ I guess that's why I love Shriekback so much because the lyrics can be interpreted so many different ways and the words all fit so well together...the writers appreciate English.

Another fantastic lyricist and all-round songwriter is Kristen Hall, whom not many folks know about. She's in league with the Indigo Girls and part of that whole 'Lesbian Folk' scene. Here's a sampling of her genius and the lyrics fit the present conditions quite appropriately, methinks. Take it for what it's worth.

"Open Arms" by Kristen Hall 1994

Its breaking my heart the way things are,
Maybe its you who needs to change,
Maybe it's me who's gone too far,
Late last night I'm in my bed
I'm playing back the words you said,
Take my heart and take my mind but
Don't you leave a trace behind,
Do what you do best and go

Too many times I turned away
Hoping you'd see through all my fears
So many things I meant to say
If we try I have no doubt
We'd have the means to work this out,
Courage can erase the pain
Of all the times we tried in vain
It's easier to turn and run
It's easier to turn and...

(CHORUS)
Run to me when you feel lonely
Come to where you're safe and warm
Run to me when you need holding
There will be a place, in these open arms

Even when you said we're through, well
Deep inside I always knew It's such a waste, it's such a shame
And no one but ourselves to blame
Now I know that all this must be
Some sick tribute to our trust Baby, take a chance and...

(CHORUS)
Run to me when you feel lonely
Come to where you're safe and warm
Run to me when you need holding
There will be a place, in these open arms
