tinhuviel: (Forlorn)
Today has been rather festive, even though I'm easing into PMS and can already tell it's going to be one of those months where little things irritate the shite outta me. Right now, though, I have it under control and am maintaining a smile upon my face. Cool days like today are quite helpful!

Aunt Tudi and I went to The Dragons Treasure and picked up a few things. I found a nice leather bag for Llew's birthday gift and some wonderful cards to bestow upon loved ones. Aunt Tudi got another hematite ring and some leather cord, among some other doo-dads. The shop moved next door to their old location. It's a larger place and has a much better feel to it than the other. We're going back in a couple of weeks for some oils that Cindy has on order. After we left The Dragons Treasure, we went to The Texas Roadhouse and indulged in the best steak either of us had ever had. Very rarely do we go to steak houses because they're so damned expensive, but it's tax time and Aunt Tudi and I were long overdue for a nice dinner at a decent restaurant.

Right now, I'm watching Alien 3. Unlike the majority, I rather liked this installment in the Alien series. Maybe it's because of the abundance of bald British men. Maybe not. So yeah, I'm here at Telehell trying to stay awake or at least partially functional. One of the men in this movie starred in the video for "Freaks" by the band Live. He was the dapper gent who went into a lounge for some coffee and discovered that he was in amongst a bunch of....well...a bunch of freaks! Ed looks so much like Barry in this video, it's not even funny. If ever a biopic on Barry were made, Ed should play him. I wonder if he does a good Brit accent.

Llew called whilst Aunt Tudi and I were on the road. He wanted to come over for a visit, but I discouraged it because it was so late in the day and I needed to nap before coming to work. Perhaps we'll have a visit tomorrow or Monday.

Speaking of Monday, Aunt Tudi cancelled her outpatient procedure for removal of a cyst on her leg, unbeknownst to me. She does have an appointment with Dr. Holt, though, so I'm still taking Monday and Tuesday as vacation since I've so much to do in order to prepare for 22 March. OK, so Monday, I take Aunt Tudi to the doc, I go to Saturn for my 3000 mile service, to H&R Block to get my taxes done, to Garners for some liquid hair supplements, a medical supply place for some unmentionables, and to a rental place to scope out a recliner for temporary usage. Tuesday will be the day I go home to Asheville. Aunt Tudi and Stephanie are tentatively accompanying me. I just really want to see the mountains and breathe the North Carolina air one more time before going under the knife. In the event I don't survive the surgery, at least I can depart this vale of tears knowing that I soaked up the Appalachian ambiance one more time before saying goodbye.

I'm now watching X-Men. Anna Paquin is butt-ugly. I really like this movie and remember when I first saw it. It was a midnight showing catering to all the geeks in the area. Travis was kind enough to get me a ticket because I was keen on seeing Ray Park as Toad. I got to hang out with all his comic book shop buddies and be a complete nerd. It was glorious! Dwain was in attendance too, which made the experience even richer. I like this movie, but I like X-2 better. Magneto was just too damned cool in the second movie. He's the only one who makes sense to me...but that just might be my Sithly outlook on life.

Now, for a weekend quiz....because I can!
Snape, of course )

In the tradition of my Clan and personal spirit animal, the Bear, I have hibernated for the majority of the day. It's been bloody glorious! I love days like this.

Even thought I've not watched the Oscars in 3000 years, I believe I shall watch the awards show tonight and cheer on my Middle Earth homies. Of course, if RotK wins Best Picture, I'm going to be crying like a blithering idiot, just like I did at the end of the movie. It still irks me that Sean Astin wasn't even nominated for best supporting actor....grrrrrrrr!!! Here's hoping I get to lay my peepers on the wonderful Billy Boyd. I wish they'd let him sing! Another wish is that he and Dougie MacLean would do a duet someday.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying EP1 on Fox until the awards show comes on. Man, I still miss that magical time in 1999 and 2000 when my only concern at that time was trying to drum up enough fundage to go see EP1 one more time. That one more time ended totaling 15 times. I can still quote huge chunks of this movie along with the characters and, no doubt, I know all of Darth Maul's lines, even though they were woefully scant. But, when you look that good and move that beautifully, why do you need to speak at all?

Oh my god...I've turned into Dominic. "Just shut up and look good!"
