First, I want to thank everyone who left messages of condolences regarding Llew. I meant to turn off the comments option, but obviously was unsuccessful. I wasn't trying to garner sympathy, but I truly appreciate your kindness and caring. That's one of the many reasons why I love LJ so much, because of the friends I have here.

There's only a couple of days left of this year. As far as writing, 2009 has been a fantastic and fruitful year. I've also made some very good friends and established some nifty contacts. The year has been a struggle as well. My health has been a constant challenge, especially since I have no doctor and no insurance. I heard from Social Security. They've denied my disability claim. So it looks like I'll be lawyering up after the first of the year. The good thing is that they denied me for one tiny reason which makes absolutely no sense. I have 60 days to appeal so, hopefully by March, I should have my disability established and be able to get some health care.

Other than that, my goal in 2010 is to finish The Blood Crown and The Augury of Gideon. Depending on what happens with my Vampires in the narrative, I am not sure what I'll write after that. A lot of these characters have been with me since 1986, so I don't see easily setting them aside, especially Cadmus Pariah. Whatever happens to him in The Vampire Relics, I have the sneaking suspicion that he'll still be holding court in my mind, demanding some kind of attention. I may have to perform a banishing spell!

I've seen a lot of triumph and success in 2009. I've also seen a lot of sadness, loss, and heartache. To be honest, I'm really not certain if 2009 was a good year or not. The good seemed to cancel out the bad, but only to the point of leaving my outlook sort of blah. So yeah...2009 has been the year of blah. Here's hoping 2010 is not.

Part of the reason for the denials is because it weeds out people as the get exhausted with the process. Keep on keeping on and you should get what you need.

And as far as the kindness and caring...you are loved.

Remember that.

May I ask what the Social Security idiots denied you for? Sigh. So much crap with SS. I deal with them on an almost daily basis in my job and it is the most frustrating and flawed system ever!

They said I could still do one of the jobs I have listed on my claim. It was a pharmaceutical delivery job that entailed climbing into the back of a van, a lot of walking, and repetitive lifting. So it was just a wee thing. I'm sure the lawyer will cackle when whe sees it.
