I've been doing promotions in one way or another for over half my life, but I've never done it for myself. It makes me feel awkward, self-centered, and generally unpleasant, but I know it must be done 'cos nobody else is gonna do it. I had someone in line to do it, but I think she was just blowing smoke up my ass because I was being useful and being used. So now it's up to me.

We get told for most of our lives to have a sense of false modesty, that talking about ourselves in a positive or even benign manner is akin to the sin of Pride and then we go out into the work force or the dating pool where confidence is king and we don't know how to project it.

There is nothing wrong with talking yourself up. You wrote a book for goodness sake and it's going to be published. You did something right. And if you don't believe in the work why should anyone else?

So think about the best aspects of the book, what makes it marketable and remember that if your book is being distributed by anyone before it gets to the customer's hands you have to pitch it to the distributor and the customer.

And pitch it.

You've got the chops.

And the COCONUTS.

:D

BTW, would it help if I said, I believed? Because I do.
