[livejournal.com profile] gunslingaaahhh asked me to write a blurb for her and her upcoming website for when she moves out to Los Angeles and begins to actively hunt for a position in publishing. Of course, I'm happy to help her in any way I can. Here's what I wrote for her. Sometimes short is the best avenue to take because it piques the interest of the reader and potential employer. Let's hope it helps.

Jillian Rosenburg is an editor, being a 2010 alumnus of Bridgewater State University, holding a Bachelors in English. She has edited four novels; Morrigan’s Brood by Heather P. Dunbar and Christopher Dunbar and The Vampire Relics (The Chalice, The Blood Crown, and The Augury of Gideon) by Tracy A. Evans. Her interests include editing novels, articles, and writing fiction of her own. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California where she is pursuing a variety of leads in the publishing business. You may contact her at [fill in email address here].

I suggested that she drop the "gunslingaaahhh" email and go with her professional name, especially if she creates a website for her job search. I also told her that if anything needed to be altered, just to let me know and I'd be happy to do whatever she needed for me to to do. We'll see how she likes it.

This sentence doesn't quite work:
"Her interests include editing novels, articles, and writing fiction of her own."

or, phrased another way...
Her interests include:
editing novels
articles
writing fiction of her own

I'm guessing it should be "editing novels and articles, and writing fiction of her own"? Otherwise, I'm not sure what sort of interest she has in articles. On the other hand, since she's the editor, maybe you don't need my help.

That was my mistake, which I corrected before sending it to her, but not before posting to the Cliffs. Why? Because I'm a nudnick.

Minor quibble

As a woman, she's an alumna, not an alumnus. Or, if you want to use gender-neutral language, graduate is appropriate.

I was wondering about this. Thank you!
