This was posted back in December, but I don't think I ever posted it here. I'm a bad Shriek supporter... Anyway, it's a very good review and will make you want to go out to your local record store or iTunes, and purchase the album. I can't stress enough how wondrous this album is and how you would not regret buying it. So go read the review and decide for yourself.

Just click the happy picture and you will be transported to Mojo.

Co-vocalist Carl Marsh left half way through the recording

He did?

Well, he must've come back, then, because I saw Shriekback at Busby's in London on July 16 1985 - just after Oil & Gold had come out - and Carl was in the band (and giving it loads, too).

I think that was his last gig with Shriekback. At any rate, he wasn't with the band when they toured the USA soon afterwards. I have a bootleg of a concert in Chicago a bit later, and Carl isn't on that. Barry sings some of the 'Carl songs' and is obviously having a few problems wrapping his voice around stuff that was written by, and for, a singer with a far more choppy, staccato style. I can't find that bootleg right now so I can't give the exact date, but it's good quality - taken from an FM radio broadcast.

So, erm...so there, basically!

Yeeeaaaahh, there are a couple of incorrect statements in the review (like there are three songs used by Mann in Manhunter), but it still fully supports the album, so I'm willing to look over it. If you find that bootleg and are inclined to share, I wouldn't object to grabbing a copy. If you can't send digitally, I'm willing to pay for any trouble you take to make a hard copy and the postage. ::winkwink nudgenudge::
