Cube Man Strikes Again
Jul. 9th, 2003 05:01 pmThis guy makes me shake with pure unadulterated crystalline hatred. man...I'm hatin' way too much today. not good not good
From the Cube Man to Me:
Just wanted to give you a little advance notice regarding 6 shipment needed tomorrow.
Faxing control #s
1107944 1000 Units
1107952 500 units
1107947 500 units
1107946 500 units
1107948 500 units
1107951 500 units
Please let me know if you foresee any delays.
From Me to the Cube Man:
All of these orders say '2nd Day' on them. Do you want them overnighted for 7-11 arrival? Also, in the future, please indicate an arrival date. Otherwise, an order may be shipped by your preferred method, only two days later than you needed it shipped. Thank you.
I then noticed that one of them said 'overnight'. Still though, they were going nowhere today
From the Cube Man to Me:
Not true.
1107944 indicates "Airborn Next Day"
so this one ships on 7/10 for a 7/11 arrival.
the other 5 Control #'s indicate "Airborn 2day"
so these should ship tomorrow for arrival on 7/14
Please call me if there is any confusion.
This man thinks I'm stupid. He even told the Feudal Mistress that I was incompetent. Everyone else I deal with is pleased and really depends on me a lot (maybe too much sometimes). He's the only one who has established this opinion of me, and he makes certain to try to make me feel as dumb as he thinks I am. I hate him.
From Me to the Cube Man
I noticed that after I sent the email; however, your email indicated that all of them were needed tomorrow. Since there were no dates on your orders, that was the source of the confusion. Please note dates on your orders.
None of them will ship today. Our cut-off time for same-day shipments are Noon. The later in the day it gets, the less of a chance an order has of going out. Please remember this for future orders.
Thank you for your cooperation.
From the Cube Man to Me:
I am aware that order have to be in by 12:00 noon in order to ship the same day.
Since the Qty was 3500 units, I was giving you "advance notice" today for shipment needed tomorrow, rather than waiting for 12:00 noon tomorrow.
Thanks.
From Me to the Cube Man:
Again, I had no way of knowing when you needed them shipped because the orders have no dates on them and the comment "Just wanted to give you a little advance notice regarding 6 shipment needed tomorrow." could have easily meant that the shipments needed to *arrive* tomorrow.
Please indicate preferred arrival dates on your future orders.
Thank you
I wanted to add: And, by the way, you fucking moron, Airborn is spelled A-I-R-B-O-R-N-E
I'm really not certain I can work with this person. I'm just trembling with stress. The last thing I needed today was a run-in with the Asshole from Hell.
OK, break over...back in the Pit.

Re:
Date: 2003-07-09 06:51 pm (UTC)Point blank is: he is not allowed to ever curse at you. It is Not Allowed. If it ain't in their rules, it should be in yours. If you're doing your job, and you're being civil, then he's got no right to talk out of line. And if he doesn't know it yet, you gotta make him know it.
I had to handle a lot of customer complaints when I did management at Waldenbooks, which usually put the person steaming and screaming just fifteen or so inches from you. If you aren't able to give him what he wants within the rules and logistics structure you work uder, then that's His problem, not yours. Your job is just to do the best you can with what you have--and it sounds like you have that part all under control.
Just make sure that any time you have a problem that you let people know it right away, and keep on them till they take care of it, or until you have to move over them to the next higher-up.
Blah blah blah, right?
So. How'd the storm turn out?

Date: 2003-07-10 04:47 am (UTC)Until I can get one of those mini-recorders, I'm not talking to him on the phone. I want documentation of everything he says to me.
As for the storm, it knocked out our phone lines, so I came in to no more work and no phone messages. Respite! ..at least for a while.
Have a groovy day!

Date: 2003-07-10 04:20 pm (UTC)OK, well, Duh, but somehow it sounds less threatening when it's labelled that way. Personality conflicts are mutual. No meaningful fault, no winner, and also no loser. Just shit that happens. Yes, I think he dislikes you. Well, you dislike him.
And all this is sounding trivializing, when it's certainly not meant to be, but rather to instill an attitude of nonchalance. I know it's horrible (and on top of everything else you have to put up with), but hey, roll with it. Chill.
(Now, note that this was written just after my last email, and have a good laugh at my expense.)
