The Breakdown of Duties
Jul. 15th, 2003 08:34 amI pulled the orders off the fax machine this morning. This is a good example of how it most usually is here in The Pit:
Feudal Mistress: 2 orders
Judy: 2 orders
Joanie: 1 order
Shannon: 4 orders
Me: 37 orders
Does anyone else who may read this post see an unbalanced level of responsibilities here?

Date: 2003-07-15 09:46 am (UTC)Having worked alongside several Virgos, as well as being married to one and having had one for a mother, I have to wonder why it seems they are the workhorses of the workplace. Could it be because they will do the job, do it well, and then some? It's not fair to take advantage of their innate responsibility. As husband Sam says, he'd rather do it right the first time than have to come behind someone else and clean up the mess.
Nonetheless, 2:2:1:4:37 seems WAY out of balance! Keep monthly graphs of this work distribution and have them ready the next time you need to ask for a raise.

Feh.
As for the Virgo issue, I think the idea that Virgos enjoy working is embedded in the social consciousness. I can totally relate to and feel for your hubby. Contrary to popular belief, Virgos aren't boring, they're just overworked! hehehe

Date: 2003-07-15 07:19 pm (UTC)I actually make more than anyone else in my department but it's not because of work load, it's because of time served. I've been there over 16 years. The closest to me in time served is Judy, who has been there going on 15 years. So I have a jump on everyone else. That's the only reason why I'm paid more though...and they're trying to get rid of me using the business logic that long-time employees are a financial liablity.
Ain't that fun?
