End of an Era
Jul. 15th, 2003 02:31 pmWell, I gave the Shriekback list to Derk and left. My farewell letter went a little bit like this:
Howdy All,
I had debated on whether or not to submit any more emails to this group before I leave and decided that I couldn't leave without doing so.
That said, I want to thank all of you for the support of the band and their efforts over the course of the past 3 years. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. I also want to thank you for being a sterling group of individuals on a personal level (a great taste in music notwithstanding) and I will miss you.
Now, I could stay onlist, but the urge to answer any questions and Be There for folks would be too tempting and that's not my job anymore. The growing pressures in my personal life have reached a level wherein I either give something up or everything will suffer. Given the latest poor handling of communication, I feel it only prudent to do as I promised I'd do from the very beginning, and pass the mailing list on to someone more capable and willing to deal with it than I am right now.
I want to apologise to all of you for my part in this fiasco and urge you to please keep in touch with me. I will be around, still working for the furtherment of the band (in whatever capacity) and its members. Any updates or news will be given to Derk to give to you. You will STILL be the first ones to know anything about Everything Shriek.
So, on that note, I bid each of you adieu.
Peace

Date: 2003-07-15 07:02 pm (UTC)1) Ari insulted me
2) I ripped him a new one offlist
3) I developed a grudge
4) Two weeks later (yesterday) Ari asks if anyone has the new Shriek album.
5) I answer as briefly as possible as it's my duty but I want to have no truck with him.
6) Ari goes ballistic and another moderator tells him to shut up.
7) I get all knotted up and say I can't take it anymore ('cos he was always needling the inner circle who helps the band about one thing or another) and tell Ari to attack me all he wants, just not on the list.
8) Derk, my partner, also writes and tells him off.
9) Ari writes back, cusses us all out, brings up the original insult he threw my way, and basically runs amok.
10) By then I'd handed the list over to Derk, but I made the comment that I'd banish Ari since he'd slandered Barry and the band (I'm very protective of Barry, if you haven't noticed).
11) Derk summarily banishes him.
See? Fiasco.
It was a long time in coming and it came to a head when I needed it the least. Besides, it was time for me to pass the torch. I was doing no one any good in my position as 'fearless leader' as my leadership wasn't really needed nor did I want it any longer. I have other onions to fry.
Believe me, this was the short story. Long story would have taken up most of LJ's server.
Tee Dum.
