Bad Guy

Why is it that, when you loan family members money on the promise that they'll pay you back, you are suddenly the bad guy after you grow weary of begging for the money back?

It's been a struggle every month to get the $100 Johnna said she'd pay me for the loan I took out so she could pay her back rent and not be evicted. In November, I was lucky enough to get $75 with the promise that the other $25 would be paid by the weekend. When I called her mom to find out if Johnna had left the money with her, she grew rather cold with me on the phone (I would have called Johnna, but she has no phone). I figured that she was already offended that I'd ask for what's due me, so I might as well suggest that Johnna start working on December's payment because, as I said to Janice: "I know it's the Christmas month, but finance companies still expect their payment regardless."

Now Johnna is coming to the house around 5:30 this evening probably to bitch me out for trying to cover my own butt after having helped her. If that's the case, I'm going to point out that, in addition to the $1300 she'll be paying off in December, she can also start working on the $2000 she's borrowed from me over the years and hasn't made the effort to reimburse. She was too busy spending weekends at the beach and taking her kids to amusement parks to worry with the one person who has saved her too many times to count.

I will never never NEVER help anyone in my family again.

I am sorry you are stressed.

I am sorry that you have financial problems. I know how not fun they are. I am in college and broke at all times.
