This year sucked.

Usually, the odd-numbered years are much better for me than the even-numbered ones; however, 2003 broke the mold. Now I can go one of two ways with my views of 2004.

1) Since 2003 sucked, then 2004 will be great, also breaking the mold for even-numbered years.
2) 2003 will be a walk in the park compared to 2004. That is to say, in 2004 the living will envy the dead.

Since I'm notorious for my pessimism, I'm prone to go with option #2, just to be on the safe side. If 2004 indeed sucks rocks, then I will be prepared for it and deal with it appropriately. If, however, 2004 is fantastico, I will be pleasantly surprised and will enjoy it more than I would have simply because I didn't expect good fortune.

Since I feel as though I'm coming down with a nasty cold, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see 2004 outdo 2003 in extreme suckage. Hopefully, I'm wrong but, when it comes to foretelling the worst, I'm rarely wrong.
