It's a Good Thing?

OK, so Martha has been convicted on all charges and will probably serve time in prison for something she did long after Kenneth Lay took the money and ran from Enron. He's yet to be charged with anything, but here's Martha going to the pokey.

Don't get me wrong. I can't stand Martha Stewart. I think she's Satan, but I don't agree with the fact that the Strong Woman gets time while the Republican Butt Buddy of Bush holes up in one of his many mansions scott-free.

There's much jubilance in the office right now, with Mary chanting "Martha's going down, Martha's going down!" That's just fucking cold. Just because Martha is an obnoxious bitch who makes homemakers nationwide look like idiotic frumps doesn't mean she should be sent to prison to the sound of cheers. This is a person's life we're talking about here.

Damn.

I kinda like Martha.

I didn't know until I read this that she was convicted, and I agree that it's disturbing that people still cheer when powerful women get publicly spanked - it says a lot about our social mores.

However, if Martha was the president she would be treated the same as Bush is. Unfortunately she is not as powerful as BUSH. Look at the Kobe trial. He's going to jail too, no doubt, and if convicted, I firmly believe Whako Jacko is going to serve time too.

I think it is time that these big wig hoity toity people who think that they are above the law get knocked down from their pedestals. They have shown, imho, that America has not gone to corporate CEO above it all hell. And as far as M going to prison. It "ain't no big thang". They will probably send her to the Hotel "lashay Connecticut" prison, which is not a hardship prison like you see in the movies. They have all the conveniences that M is used to. She will probably still get to even do her show from there. Don't feel bad for her, she will not be at all inconvenienced. Her notoriety will probably get her more money then she had before. SHE LIED ABOUT HER INVOLVMENT, SHE MADE MONEY BY CHEATING. She needs to be punished. Maybe this will show others they need to be more ethical!
BTW:I am a fan of yours. Been reading you a long time now. I do not have a Journal or would put my screen name in instead of anonymous. :Your bites and satirical wit are refreshing.~~

Oh, I totally agree with you on these corporate white collar prisons. She won't suffer save for a few inconveniences like not being allowed to serve jury duty (which most people would find a blessing, but not me 'cos I'm a courtroom ho) or vote. Personally, I think that, if you commit a crime, you should go to the same place as everyone else. The thing that really bothers me is the rampant glee of so many people at her, or anyone's, downfall. It just exemplifies the inherent cruelty I find so distasteful in our species.

My beef with this whole thing is the double standard I see. Corporate crime runs rampant in this country, but only the handful that don't toe the party line are charged and convicted. I'd feel a lot better about all this once Ken Lay is in the proverbial shackles of justice. ....y'know the ole cliche ~ "what's good for the goose is good for the gander"..... But since Dubya has *dubbed* his current home "The Ken Lay White House" I doubt we'll see such justice any time soon.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment. It always shocks me to find that someone is voluntarily reading my rants and ramblings. Sorry you were initially screened. I had to put screens up because I was being spammed to death by The Passion of the Christ adverts and I just don't dig having commercials in my journal. So...nice to meet you! And I hope someday you join the ranks of the Damned here on LJ.
