There's one final attempt to resuscitate the laptop and then......that will be it. I'm so upset. There are no words to express how lost I feel without my laptop. It was keeping me sane at Telesuck...and it has all my Shriekback and Barryandrews.net materials on it. I can't even work on the websites anymore, much less re-do the Telesuck website like I promised Marie I would.

My only extended access to the 'Net is now in The Pit, which isn't really decent access at all, since I have other things I need to be doing other than keeping up with email, and web work isn't an option at all here.

I could get another notebook, but I really can't afford another credit bill each month and I don't see how I can get all my files transferred from the old lappy to the new one. Also, I won't have wsftp-pro or Front Page on the new notebook, so I still wouldn't be able to really work until I was able to snag those programs again, which is highly unlikely that I'll be able to do so.

I'm heartbroken......

I don't know who you've been taking it to for repair or what's wrong with it ... but all should not be lost. Unless there is something actually broken about the hardware it IS possible to fix the software side (whether the people fixing it know how to or not doesn't change the fact that it IS possible). If there is actually a hardware problem it is STILL possible to rescue all of the data that you have on there (except in the very unlikely case that your hard drive has crashed).

And I can get ya front page and ws-ftp-pro. :)

Oh, Tin! As you know, I was there 18 months ago and absolutely **devastated**. I'm still in debt from deciding I couldn't cope without one. I so feel for you! It's a gut-punch like no other.

But it's true about the files -- in my case the expert's time cost £££, don't know if there's a better way, but it *is* do-able.
