As it storms outside, precluding my mowing the grass yet again today, I'm listening more closely to the radio to hear if any majorly dangerous weather is heading in our direction. So far, no. The only dangerous things heading our way is the crap they're playing on the radio.

Sorry [livejournal.com profile] piperdawn, but Nickelback makes me want to stick my head in a microwave oven and turn it on thaw (slow death, lots of minimal deep pops).

MercyMe are obviously not Baptists. They say in their sappy/crappy love song to Jesus, "I Can Only Imagine," Will I dance for you, Jesus? Or in awe of You, be still?
Baptists don't dance.....even for Jesus. I bet if Jesus had a gun and cowboy hat, and said, "dance for me, you damned outlaws!" the Baptists would dance then. They'd be hoofin' it like the people in Riverdance. Verily, they would have feets o'flame!

Eminem needs to be drug face-down on a rope behind a race horse for a couple of hours. Most of his songs sound like carnival tunes from Hell. Did you know that Anton LaVey said that carnival music was the Devil's choice of music? He probably said that because he was a carnival organist but that does make one wonder about some of Nino Rota's scores...as well as Danny Elfman's music. Still though, theirs is mature Satanic music compared to Eminem's kiddie deviltry. Rope, horse, face. 'Nuff said.

Strange how religion mixed with music in this post. That was unintentional.

Does that mean that Eminem is really the Devil?

And I'm totally lmao about your Baptist comment - after spending 12 years in a school that claimed to not believe in dancing, yet had parent sponsored dances to get around that loophole, I've had all the Baptist I can stand!

I'd like to think that the Devil would have more class, so I'm gonna vote for Danny Elfman for that position. Besides, he makes a handsome devil.

As for your schooling....Aaaiiieee!!

I have never seen that picture, but I've said for years that Danny Elfman's face frightens me and that I imagine Satan looking like that.

And I'm sorry about the Nickelback. Most of what I like is on Silver Side Up. With the exception of one song, I thing The Long Road mostly blows goats.

If you've never seen Forbidden Zone, featuring the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, you really need to look it up. It will warp you for-fucking-evar.

Now I want to listen to Nickelback, bitch.

I am going to have to link to this post. I just read it out loud for Kim and we are laughing still.

Feets o'flame!

I can't. I try from time to time, but it still pisses me off really badly. These things take a while for me to get over. The curse of being a loyalist and whatnot.

I gotta agree with you on Nickelback. The main song on The Long Road that I like is Figured You Out. Its just plain sexy.

Okay, okay...

So there's two and a half songs I like on The Long Road.

The one I was thinking of above is "Should Have Listened". I do really like "Figured You Out". And "Someday" is okay in some very limited capacities, but I'd like it better if it were an instrumental.

Leader of Men is my favorite Nickelback song. Everything current sounds like clones of each other!

Yeah, about that...

My favorite Nickelback song is "Good Times Gone". On The Long Road I like "Should Have Listened". Nicely confessional and I like how spare the production is. You can actually hear Chad sing. (Thinking about Nickelback is making me angry. I'm going to have to type faster...) I do like "Figured You Out" and, as I said above, "Someday" has uses... If nothing else it's sure to induce vomiting should [livejournal.com profile] tinhuviel ever need to be provoked to expel a poison, so remember that!

On The State my favorite songs are "Old Enough" and "One Last Run". My problem with Nickelback is simple. They fired their drummer for no apparent reason. There is a discernible evolution from Curb to The State, and from The State to Silver Side Up. There is no evolution of style or content from Silver Side Up to The Long Road. All they have done, for the most part, is regurgitate what seemed to work from Silver. And that is not what I'm after. I like long haul bands with thick portfolios, solo projects and progeny under their belts. I like on-going development.

I like people not to be fired for what appear to be arbitrary and cosmetic reasons. Especially KICK ASS drummers who are the bulk of why I ever cracked the billfold for you morons in the first place...

And sadly, it was still better than public school here! All it really did was turn me against organized religion. They're all a buncha hypocrites!

Come to think of it, I cannot place one single private school here that is not church based. Hmmm.

I always thought Danny Elfman looked like a vampire. He has natural fangs that are quite frightening.

My Orphaeus Cygnus is based on Danny Elfman, so I definitely see his vampiric qualities.

I saw Oingo Boingo back in . . . 1986? We were pretty close to the stage, and someone threw a shoe onstage, hard. Danny Elfman stopped the show and got really pissed-off looking, lectured the unknown person about how he could have hurt someone, and told the rest of us that if we figured out who it was, we had his blessings to toss the person out of the theater. He was very, very frightening looking. It was totally cool.:-)

I used to get so pissed at the Top40 station here for playing Mercy Me all the time. I'm like, if I wanted to hear crap about Jesus and religion, I would listen to a religious station! I'm sure the religious stations dont go around playing Foo Fighters or something.

I haven't heard that song or that band (or if I have, I've blocked it out of my memory), but there's plenty of other stuff that gets played that isn't quite so obvious, and I think that's what really pisses me off. Stuff like "Broken Road" by Rustic Flats or whatever the song/band is (they're a country band getting "cross-over" play here in rural Illinois, anyway).

Of course, if it's a good song ("Spirit in the Sky," "Taking it to the Streets," not that those get top40 play anymore), it doesn't bother me at all. [livejournal.com profile] the_original1 and I have been discussing that a lot lately. Why is the preachy crap from people like Tim McGraw bad, but Norman Greenbaum is totally cool? The Call, U2, Hothouse Flowers, these are all bands who have music with heavy Christian messages, but I don't care! Peter Himmelman's music is all tempered very strongly with his religious views (Orthodox Jew), but it's wonderful music! But then someone like what's-her-name, Celine Dion, says "god" in one of her songs, and it's a complete turn-off for me (not that I like her music, anyway).

To give you an idea on how willing I am to work on a relationship, my ex was a major Nickleback fan, and made me listen to it on every possible occasion...

Most of his songs sound like carnival tunes from Hell.

Actually, the sad thing is that it may even be considered a refreshing musical idea in today's music climate

Unfortunately I really can't say anymore as it wouldn't be fair on the other parties involved.

All I can say is I've had conversations, strong words have been exchanged and the word 'wanker' doesn't even come close.

Some Baptists dance. I don't think any Southern Baptists do, but there are many divisions within the Baptist church. Emo Phillips had a great routine about it, but I'm not sure what it's called or which record it's on, and [livejournal.com profile] the_original1 is spoiled and still in bed.

Come on, Wheaton College (http://www.wheaton.edu/) (yeah, sure, they're "interdenominational"), the alma mater of Billy Graham, has even started allowing women to wear pants! That was over ten years ago, I think. They even have girls wearing pants on their homepage! It was big news around the area when they did that.
