You should be happy to note that Newport News fashions is selling leg warmers, a trench coat that looks straight out of Adam Ant's closet complete with blousy cuffed shirt, and sweatshirts to be worn off one shoulder with a tank top underneath.

The 80s were a good decade musically....at least the first half.

I graduated in 1986, so I'm a year younger than you are. But it seems we certainly listened to the same music. I have a great appreciation for 80's music, and for a long time I was into that electric guitar-synthesized sound like the Cars or Van Halen. Acoustic music didn't appeal to me in the least. In a way, I still prefer 80's-type sound to "alternative" music, which was a real shock to my system when it became mainstream in the 90's. I *hated* it. Even now, I select *very* carefully the artists from that genre that I will listen to and patronize. I'm still very nostalgic. Atlanta used to have an 80's station, but it sold and became talk radio. I miss it horribly. Whenever I go down to Tampa/St. Pete, I'm always turning on the 80's station in my car. I *revel* in it.

As for the songs you bolded and didn't, I would have bolded some songs you didn't and I wouldn't have bolded some of the songs you did. But many that you did bold, I certainly enjoyed as well!

We used to have an 80s station around here, but it got turned into a "contemporary christian and positive country" station a couple of years ago. It broke my heart.

Great year! I hadn't switched to classic rock yet. But you didn't select Sugar Walls! Wah! Or We Are the World? Come on, now! I stood next to LaToya. She was wearing a headband. I felt naked! Oops. Channeling Bette again.

We Are the World was a cheap afterthought to Do They Know It's Christmas and poorly done, I might add. Sugar Walls was just annoying.

Shhhh don't tell Willow, but A View to a Kill was the only Duran Duran (Do suck, Do suck) song that I ever really liked. The Wild Boys was OK which is a huge leap in their dept.

There are more Duranies on my list. Shut your hole if you want to make more friends.

if you can't take a little teasing or ribbing then you probably don't want me on your friends list do you? Willow and you can let it roll off. Besides what should it matter what I think if you really like the band.

Great list! I remember (and like) almost all of these since I was big into MTV at the time. I had almost forgotten about 'Til Tuesday. I loved Voices Carry.
